How it works
Online bidding is a process where goods or services are sold in an online auction. Similar to charity auctions, our auctions happen entirely online which allows for a wider audience and more secure transactions. Best of all, it’s easy for anyone to host or join a BestAuction bid.
1. Register
All bidders must register through the platform to access the auctions. Registering and browsing items on sportsbid.store is free. Registered users are not obligated to sell or buy and we do not require credit card information until you decide to place a bid.
2. Bidding
Potential bidders can start placing their bids the moment the auction is started. As the auction progresses and bidders engage, participants are encouraged to increase their bid to secure the items they are watching. You will receive a notification the moment someone outbids you.
3. Payment
Payment information is required once you place a bid. All payment and credit card information is handled securely through Stripe - our preferred payment partner with one of the most secure and reputable reputations. We also require bidders to provide billing information to prevent fraudulent bids or fake accounts that may drive up bids without the intent of winning the items.
4. Duration
The seller sets a duration for the auction. This can range from a few hours to several days, weeks or months.
5. Winning the Bid
When the set duration ends, the bidder who has placed the highest bid wins the right to purchase the item.
6. Payment
Payment for the winning bid is automatically charged to the winner’s payment method.
7. Shipping
Once payment is confirmed, the seller or auction host ships the item to the winner. Shipping costs are covered by the auction owner or by the item winner, this is stated withing the auction text.
8. Fees
There are no fees. The winner only pays the final bid price. In rare cases, VAT or custom duties or taxes may be charged by local authorities at the moment of delivery.
9. Reporting
We provide a detailed report of your auction with a record of all bids. This allows for greater accountability and reduces fraud or collusion. This is also how we promote transparency and increase trust between buyers and sellers.
For sellers
1. Registration for selling items
Users who want to sell their items are required to accept the proposal from a sportsbid.store sales representative and have it signed by an authorized person in their company.
2. Listing the item
As the seller, provide a detailed description of the item with pictures. You will want to specify the condition of the item and any unique characteristics that would make the item more valued to the bidding audience. Additionally, you will want to list details about the club or charity the proceeds of the item will benefit.
3. Set the starting bid
As the seller, it is up to you to determine the starting bid. The bid should both be high enough so you retain the value of the product, but low enough to attract more bidders. You can choose to include or exclude the shipping costs in the initial price while creating the auction in the administration interface.
4. Supporting charity projects
Sportsbid.store is committed to supporting charities. Owners of the items select the charity who will benefit from all or part of the auction proceeds. This is at the discretion of the item owner. Item owners who list items on sportsbid.store include famous athletes collectors, designers, gallery owners, artists. So long as you are qualified to list the item, we’re glad to host your auction. Once the item has gained approval from the SPORTSBID team, we host it online with the benefactor or charity clearly listed.
5. Fees
The item owner pays a listing fee to SPORTSBID according to his pricing plan. Depending on the plan, this could be a flat rate, credits, or an agreed percentage of the final bid price. Once the winner's payment is confirmed, SPORTSBID transfers the final total price minus online banking transfer fees (commonly 2-4%) to the account or card of the item owner.
6. Reporting
We provide clear records for every online auction hosted on BestAuction. This provides greater accountability and trust while reducing the chance of fraud or collusion.
