"Children of My Heart" - a private children's home providing accommodation for terminally ill children and their mothers.

Who are we and what do we do? Our facility is unique in that it cares for children with severe disabilities and also for mothers with children who have experienced various forms of abuse (both physical and psychological). The emergency housing can accommodate 21 people, currently hosting 6 mothers and 15 children. The center for children and families is at full capacity with 16 children with severe disabilities. Additionally, our facility provides meals for the homeless during the winter months and also helps pensioners in the city of SNV. We cook approximately 200 lunches daily.

Who do we help, and what are these children like? Caring for a severely ill disabled child is very demanding. We are the only private facility focused on this kind of care. Each child has many specialists in Košice and Prešov. Coordinating daily appointments requires an excellent team, for whom I am grateful every day. Our finances are insufficient even for payroll costs, which is why we operate solely on collections and financial donations from sponsors. It is extremely challenging, but not impossible. We are not just a waiting room for death. We decided to give the children many experiences and love, and to fill their lives despite not expecting a happy ending.
